Shawn Ronzio was born in the small town of Dawson, nestled along the banks of the Youghiogheny River in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania. Self described as a lightning bolt, his creative genius runs fast through his veins, it is second nature to him. As a child he had an insatiable need to take things apart to gain an understanding of how they worked.
Throughout his youth, inspired by special effects films of the 70s,and 80s he made effects and props for homemade adventure films with his two brothers, building from whatever materials he could get his hands on.
After graduating high school, Ronzio attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in January of 1993. In the fall of '95 he graduated with an Industrial Design Technology degree. The following year he opened 'Coffee on Crawford' with his brothers. In 2000 he moved to Los Angeles and was hired by Michael Burnette Productions and worked for 7 years within the special effects industry. During that time he also studied metal art and fabrication at Mount San Antonio College.
He returned home to Pennsylvania in 2007 and taught special effects for 13 years. During that time he mentored countless talented artists and continues to employ 90% of the individuals he taught during his tenure, fostering a thriving community of creativity and skill. From helping create iconic works in special effects like Doc Ock ( Spiderman II ) to producing stunning visuals and props for multiple Hollywood films such as The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) The Last Mimzy, (2007) The Black Phone (2021) and many more.
